Fri, 09/26/08 @ 1pm: CBA Selected for Oregon Main Street / Transforming Downtown Program!

Three cheers!   CBA Board Members Jane Davis, Brooke Russell, Susan Barksdale, Steven Weaver and Funding/Grant Writing Committee Chair Liz Santone joined Governor Ted Kulongoski (see photo) for the Oregon Main Street Announcement Ceremony in Oregon City.   After a lengthy, fifty-page applicaiton, Carlton was one of only six (6!) cities selected from around the state to participate in the Transforming Downtown Program for 2009.   

The Main Street program is a division of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, and is an approach to restoring prosperity and vitality to downtown areas through historic preservation and economic development.     Initial plans are to pursue additional opportunities for funding and grants at the state and national levels, as well as continuing development of the historic downtown corridor.
